My first sartorial memory is of my love for my red patent leather Mary Janes, which I wanted in true four year old fashion, to wear everywhere, with everything. Brown corduroy trousers and Liberty print shirt? I think my Mary Janes would go with that. Sear sucker blue and white bathing suit? My red Mary Janes, please. Pea green uniform? If only the nuns weren’t so unreasonable.... I loved those shoes. And as with all first loves - something of that relationship endured.
Off for a spell in the sun! Spring has been slow to arrive this year (take today for example, 54 degrees in the middle of May). So I've decided to return to a quiet place in southern California I have visited in the past to soak up some vitamin D, take a break from the technology and reset my clock before I spend the rest of the summer traveling like a vagabond all over the world for business. Few things are as relaxing for me as a vacation spent alone. I know, I'm a hermit. I know, I'm a recluse. I know, I'm anti-social. But I don't care.
Reactions to my solo ventures usually run the extreme. I've gotten everything from 'That's amazing--- I would love to do something like that' to, 'Wait. You're going alone? Like alone, alone? Aren't you scared?' Not to say that traveling with others isn't fun as well, but even then, my autonomy gets the best of me and I always need time to go off and explore alone.
Traveling to a new locale alone for the first time forces you to call upon all of your most Montessori of skills; communication, patience, adaptability to mention a few. Without someone their to rely on, you have no choice but to break out of any comfort zone you may rely upon, especially if there's a serious language barrier. I'm someone who enjoys being kept on her toes, and traveling alone does that for me.
Jenni Kayne, her husband Richard and children, Tanner and Ripley.
We at Odile were fortunate to be introduced to designer and Mother Jenni Kayne when ShopOdile was featured on her childrens' style blog, Ladys and Gents. Ms. Kayne has been designing classic American clothing collections for women for 10 years. She is an inspirational entrepreneurial woman (she was 19 the year her first collection came out!), with two retail stores and two blogs, the other named Rip + Tan for her two children. Ms. Kayne has taken an Odile Family Portrait, sharing her thoughts on business, motherhood and success, and the Odile office will be borrowing her Valentine's Day idea next year! Ms. Kayne is simpatica with Odile for her love of timeless design and quality. We love this interview, and are certain you will, too. Enjoy!
At the Camille's Picks shoot, which was filled with designer kids' clothes like the Marni Girls' outfit above, models were interviewed about the important things in life. Here, darling Tedessa teaches us about exercise.
Finally, Spring is here - (as fleeting as Cherry Blossoms though it will be). To mums, the packing away of down filled coats means that Summer and Summer Camp Season is (too) near. And to mums who don't want to pack their children off to camps on mosquito laden lakes to sleep in bug filled cabins - The Camp Question buzzes like a thing that stings....
If your littles have already had several sessions of Mandarin and Spanish this year and they just did the Science thing during the Winter (as it was so close to Whole Foods) and the thought of dirty cleats and polyblend sports jerseys brings a furrow to your brow (which it can only do in theory thanks to that genius dermatologist), perhaps an activity that combines movement, music, words, art and "hamming it up" should be considered. Perhaps, smooth-browed mama - you should consider theater camp - where I hope to place my budding thespian this summer.
As we get ready to celebrate Mothers Day today, I’d like to take a moment to celebrate my mom and all that she has done for me by sharing a special memory. Please tweet your own stories, photos and memories to @shopodile this weekend and we will retweet them and post to Facebook in a Mother's Day wrap up! Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there!
At the end of last year I was introduced to the l’Ecole de Choix by my friend Ione who is the Director of Communications for the school. Immediately upon learning about the institution, which provides elementary education to students living in Mirebalais, Haiti, I knew I had to participate. Ione showed me image upon image of photos she had taken the last time she was at the school (she travels there every couple of months). Seeing the beautiful smiling faces of the children who were so eager and happy to be learning was a moving and motivating experience for me.
If the thought of attending a Happy Clappy class where you are asked to "share a little bit about yourself and your young one" before a fresh faced young Childhood Education student who wears hemp and is waiting to hear back from the Peace Corp invites you to sing along from songs from around the world! - her high pitched voice full of exclamation points - then this is for you.
Alexi, our Camille's Picks model, decided to chat with Odile founder and stylist Camille Cozzini about his travels around the world. He's from the States, has been to Europe, and will delight you with his choice for the Best Place on Earth. Enjoy!
We are happy to announce that Teddy and Me, the super soft line of classic baby layette for early and preemie babies is about to arrive at shopodile.com! In honor, we crafted this playlist of contemporary lullabies, for you to sing your little bundle of joy to sleep with. We hope you enjoy!
We are pleased to announce that Claire Douglass, author, global citizen and mother to two delightful boys will be contributing to the Odile blog! Ms. Douglass possesses a sharp wit and a keen eye for style and we are looking forward to her take on styling two boys and her ideas on what to do about town in Chicago as well as 'round the world. Now, please give a warm welcome to Ms. Douglass, as she shares her Family Portrait with us!
When we received the spring/summer shipment of Frilo Knits from Switzerland and took a look at the crisp whites and soft accent colors of melon and mocha, we were inspired by its classic style. These classic knit clothes for baby, boys and girls needed truly extraordinary icons to name our new collection after.
We are so honored to be featured on childrens style blog, Ladys and Gents! Founded by style mavens and moms Estee Stanley and Jenni Kayne, this LA-based fashion blog has a keen eye for style, shown in beautiful photos. You will truly enjoy the ladies' fashionable and unique take on childrens clothing.
What's in a name? explores the naming process for the Odile collections. In this installment, we are celebrating the life of Irene Sharaff, one of the biggest names in the history of costume design. Ms. Sharaff won 5 Oscars, wokring on such movies as Meet Me In St. Louis, An American in Paris, and Guys and Dolls, but is primarily known for her costume designs for the stage. She is the only costumer to ever work on both the stage and film versions for two shows - the King and I and West Side Story, both of which are known for their distinct and historically accurate looks. She is also the woman who gave Yul Brenner the idea to shave his head for his role, creating a style icon in the process.
The Spring/Summer 2013 girls collection from Missoni Kids has been named for four of the greats of costume design: Valentina, Florence Klotz, Irene Sharaff and Lucinda Ballard. And not because the Tony Awards are almost here, although we do certainly appreciate knowing there are only 50 days left from the date of this post. And, it isn't because there are so many gorgeous revivals, including Annie, Cinderella and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Sure, our love of the theater knows no bounds. Our recent trip to the Book of Mormon here in Chicago delighted us to no end, and we are already picking the next show we want to attend. We are blessed to live in a place with boasting such a vibrant and talented theater community, amd try to take advantage of that fact every chance we get.
As you know, our office has been mobile for over a month now, and in that time frame, we have launched the delightful new collections from Oscar de la Renta,Missoni and Lanvin Petite on shopodile.com. We also also have added complimentary free shipping on all United States ground orders!
Easter is upon us (so early this year!) and while I always find it fun to craft an Easter bonnet with Mommy, this year I wanted to present you with a fun craft - a make-your-own Missoni Easter basket! I used actual scraps of Missoni fabrics in mine (to go with my Missoni bunny ears!), but the joy of Missoni is mixing, matching and layering, so if you have other lovely fabrics you wish to use, please feel free to substitute!
I hope this finds you well. I am writing, with sadness, to inform you that my Chicago boutique will be temporarily closed for the near future.
As you know, my sister Alexis' store, Sarca, resides next door to Odile. On early Wednesday morning, Sarca incurred flooding so massive that it overflowed into the Odile space. Thankfully, no one was injured. We are currently uncertain of the origin of this terrible occurrence. What we do know is that we will need time to rebuild the structure of Odile in keeping with our standards of luxury, beauty and craftsmanship.
Missoni Kids Spring/Summer 2013 has arrived! Taking it cues from the women’s wear collections, these brightly colored knitwear prints are true representations of what Missoni does best. Missoni’s prints are so well adapted to children’s wear, it’s almost hard to believe that they started as an adult line, and not the other way around.
We are in love with Apple Park's baby toys, blankies and plush. Made of hypoallergenic, 100% certified organic cotton, these delightful companions are made with little ones in mind. Baby's hands can easily wrap around a soft ear or an apple stem, and plush offers older siblings a sweet Big Brother or Sister gift. With lovely characters to choose from, including Cubby, Lamby and Bunny, Apple Park makes the perfect addition to every gift!
If you are like me, you love to be crafty and make things for people. I sometimes love to make a whole present myself, but I also like to make wrapping paper or gift toppers for when I buy a gift.
I am very thankful to have such a loving family, and really wanted to figure out a pretty way to thank my Mother for all her love this Valentine's Day. As usual, my friend Jessica McDermott helped me concoct a craft that is just right. It is sure to look lovely with my Mother's Valentine's Day ensemble!
To make your mother a corsage, you only need a little bit of time, some adult help (that's what Dads are for!), ribbon and a pipe cleaner! I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did!
We here at Odile are madly in love with Everyone Says I Love You - a lovely pop-up book that teaches children how to say the magic words in 6 different languages. Children can't get enough of its bright pop-ups that feature different cities, and the languages spoken in them.
Congratulations to Camille, who is featued in the latest issue of Today's Chicago Woman as one of the Top 50 Singles of 2013. Chosen for her entrepreneurship, spirit, charitable efforts and style, Camille is honored to join the ranks of TCW's Singles.
The holidays are upon us once again. My gift selections this year either tend towards the nostalgic or the ultra-lux. I know I’d be happy with any of these.
If you are in Chicago, there is still time to visit the Charlie Brown exhibit, "Charlie Brown and the Great Exhibit" at the Museum of Science and Industry, and good grief, it is a wonderful retrospective that adults and children like will enjoy! It was just extended through February, 2013, so there is plenty of time to visit!
When we first stepped foot into the musuem, we noticed that the central tree (see above, right) is decorated with Snoopy's doghouse, as well as ornaments that look like Charlie Brown's shirt. I thought that was a wonderful way to tie the Christmas trees of the world exhibit in with Charlie Brown. Upon entering the exhibit, we got to learn about the history of the Peanuts comic strip by viewing original, hand-drawn versions (which are a lot larger than what you see in the papers!). We also learned how Mr. Schulz drew them (he was a fan of a certain type of pen) and how he 'inked' Lucy's hair! If you choose to visit, you will be able to see the swirls created by his ink!
If children were in charge of how we celebrated our boutique's 3rd birthday and our website's launch, they might want us all to jump on the bed, a decadent and delightful no-no. You can do that, too, or you can just enter a contest that, if you win, will give you that same high-flying feeling! We are so excited to be able to bring you the very first shopodile.com contest , with a really lovely prize: a $1500 Shopping Spree! To enter, sign up for Odile emails between now and November 30, 2012 and get entered in a raffle to win a chance to shop big on shopodile.com!

Creating a collection: When I first opened Odile three years ago it was my goal to create my own collection. Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to design and create clothing. My mother loves to tell stories of how I used to create ‘outfits’ out of her scarf collection and wear them around the house; one day a little off-the-shoulder creation, the next a simple side-knot skirt and top combo. Years later I found myself in class at both The School of the Art Institute and Parsons School of Design learning figure drawing and draping.
This is part of a series on process through which we name the luxury chidrens clothing and shoes we carry at Odile for baby, boys and girls. When the La Stupenderia Fall/Winter 2012 collection arrived, it was as if two selves had been joined as one through the La Stupenderia craftsmasnship and elegance. One collection is whimsical and draws its inspiration from the Romance eras. The other, full of jewel tones is rich in detail and dramtic. When contemplating both, I was drawn to global fairy tale names to further convey the emotion that is evoked from these beautiful garments.
"Nowhere in the whole of Germany is anyone collecting [folklore] so accurately, thoroughly and with such a sensitive ear.” - Jacob Grimm, on Franz Xaver von Schönwerth."
We love a good, crisp walk during fall. That search for the perfect leaf to take home, the crackling and crunching beneath our feet, the boot that gives your children that perfect style- it is these pleasures that delight during the fall season.
Many restaurants throughout Tuscany claim to serve it, but don’t be fooled by tourist traps and charming Italian men (with even more charming sales pitches), because, as with many things in life, the real thing is hard to find. Many restaurants throughout Florence will advertise what’s known as the bistecca alla fiorentina, a famous cut of steak that is made only from the meat of the all white Chianina cow. Not many restaurants serve the real thing, however, unless you’re dining at Trattoria Sostanza , affectionately known as ‘Il Troia’ to the locals (the translation of which is not so kid friendly so please feel free to look that up on your own).
These questions are constantly circulating between the Odile staff members and our loyal customers. When asked what my favorite restaurant in Chicago is, I always find it difficult to answer. When asked what my favorite restaurant in Paris is, I don’t hesitate.
This is a part of a series on the Odile private label line, il Completo. It being our first season, it seemed fitting that the names of each garment or shoe paid homage to Camille's heritage. After a bit of research, Italian Icons seemed the most appropriate, as all of il Completo is proudly made in Italy. Throughout this fall/winter season, I will introduce you to the players that inspired us and our complete collection of classic clothing and shoes for newborn to age twelve. Without further ado and from the Odile family to yours, I present il Completo.
Who better to name an il Completo selection after than Perry Como, the man Bing Crosby once described as "the man who invented casual." And what casual style it was! Ties with grey suiting, cardigans and dress pants - always relaxed, always crisp, and always complete!

The tale of Rosanella, while a lovely French tale about cultivating our divine qualities, is also a frightening tale for parents with a thankfully happy ending! The fairy tale, written by the Comte de Caylus and recounted by Andrew Lang in The Green Fairy Book tells the story of two fairies vying to be the Queen of their tribe. In an effort to outshine each other, they each choose to cultivate children with extraordinary qualities: one states she will groom a boy to become an unconstant man, the other to mentor a girl to become a woman no man could refuse. The nightmarish part of the story is that they chose other people's children to showcase their talents. It ends well, though, so we shall move on and talk of our star - Rosanella.
Here is a fun alternative to pumpkin carving, perfect for young children. Mix and match different parts to create funny faces - kids can change the faces over and over! Thanks to the lovely Ms. Jessica McDermott, artist extraordinaire for the idea!
It is nearing the last week to see MoMA's exhibit "the Century of the Child." The exhibit explores the 20th century design that has been dedicated to childrens' games, furniture, playgrounds and schools. See what is known to be the first Bauhaus exhibit, a childrens nursery by Alma Siedhoff-Buscher. Rejoice in the artwork of Mr. Paul Klee, or the Me, Too dog (which is, of course, Otto and I love).

Bensurdatu is an Italian folk tale that has most recently been collected by Andrew Lang in his book Complete Fairy Book Series: Traditional Folk Tales and Fairy Stories from Around the World. Children will recognize the cast of characters, familiar in their folk tale-ness: a King, Queen and their princess daughters, an old and wise woman, two untrustworthy generals, two giants and a multi-headed serpent. Bensurdatu himself is a noble servant, who sets of on a quest to find the missing princesses after the generals have failed. It is wonderful that at project gutenberg.org you can find many world fairy tales amd other books free of cost (in the US, certainly) with a click of the mouse- be sure to visit.

I first encountered Eleonora Duse as a freshman at Grinnell College. My studies of the Italian Futurist Movement under Pip Gordon led me on a reading rampage that paused dramatically at Edward Gordon Craig.

LIttle Red Cap. You may know her from her other name, Little Red, her other-other name, Little Red Riding Hood or her other-other-other name, Le Petit Chaperon Rouge.
When Camille and I first discussed bringing the boutique to life online, it became apparent to me that by treating Odile's style choices as characters, we would be publishing the stories our designers wrote into the hem of each garment. For some designers (such as Lanvin Petite and Missoni), each piece or pattern is its own story. But for a company such as La Stupenderia - or Odile's new private label line il Completo- the garments all work together to tell a story as a whole.
We at Odile are pleased to announce the launch of our exclusive private label line, il Completo! This dream of Odile founder, Camille Cozzini, has bee reallized for Fall/Winter 2012 by Italian artisans whose craftsmanship and care can be seen in each piece. Our classic clothing and shoes for newborn to twelve includes all of the building blocks for a young child's wardrobe. Timeless and traditional, you are certain to enjoy the ease of mixing and matching that il Completo provides.
As you know, we here at Odile are huge fans of mushrooms! As Camille's previous post pointed out, when she went to Italy and met with Missoni and they, too had mushrooms, it was kismet! Inspired by the mushrooms she saw at Missoni, Camille commissioned our very talented window and display artist, Ms. Jessica McDermott, to create her own version of Missoni Mushrooms!
Today we are delighted to wish Mr. Alber Elbaz a very happy birthday. Born June 12th, 1961 in Casablanca, Morocco, Mr. Elbaz later immigrated to Israel with his family. In 1985 he moved to New York City to work for a number of designers, including Geoffrey Beene and Yves Saint Laurent. After cutting his teeth at Krizia and YSL, he finally moved into his position at Lanvin in 2001 where he has remained…… and aren’t we all happy he did!
Today marks the anniversary of the maiden voyage of the famous Express d’Orient from Paris to Vienna. Considered the world’s most luxurious way to travel, the now defunct caravan left Paris’ Gare de l’Est on June 5th, 1883 and ran for 125 years, until making its final journey in 2009. Often confused with the Venice-Simplon Orient Express (which is still running), the Express d’Orient has maintained a reputation for being the final word in luxury travel, despite no longer being in existence. I suppose if you’re going to acquire a reputation, it might as well be for being fabulous, right?
As you know, normally on Tuesdays I like to hop into my internet-fueled time machine and get all timey-wimey about fashion (Just call it Doctor Who Designed That? The Fashion Edition!). Today, however, there is no need – because handcrafted shoes for kids still exist, and are just as lovely as when our small towns each had their very own cobbler!
I hope you have had a great start to your week! When I woke up this morning and realized the sun was shining and school is almost out, I thought, “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood!” I love Mister Rogers. I have learned so very much from him about sharing and caring and life, and it turns out, his first episode on WQED in Pittsburgh aired today, back in 1967.
I love the sound of Roy Orbison’s voice. It seems like it goes on forever, and not only was he a very talented singer and songwriter, but he also was stepping out in monochromatic style, properly accessorized. On the week of his birthday, we want to travel in time to meet Mr. Orbinson, and hear first hand how he was an act the Beatles didn’t want to follow!
Join us April 28 and 29 for our 1st annual Odile European Flea Market, filled with your favorite brands! Selections from Baroni, Le Nouveau Né and Victoria Christmas, along with other style favorites, will be at prices that will make you say “J’aime beaucoup!” Remember, the early bird is the chicest bird!
This weekend, I had the pleasure of watching “A League of Their Own,” and was delighted to find out that it was based on the true tales from the All American Professional Baseball League. And, to be more specific, the Rockford Peaches from right here in Illinois!
Today we would like to time-travel to two well-dressed men, a father and son, resolutely talking about life, or maybe toys, in style. Clients say that they love what Camille has picked for boys. Boys have less styles to choose from – we girls have skirts and dresses, too, but boys have pants and shirts. And short pants (my favorite!!!!) Camille finds the softest and most lovely outfits for boys, and the outfit John-John is wearing reminds me of many traditional boys' outfits I have seen at Odile – classic and comfortable and perfect for sitting and talking with Daddy about life.
I love Easter! The celebratory feeling in the air, Easter Egg Hunts, my new dress (the Lanvin Manteau this year!). Jessica was nice enough to help me craft these fun bunny ears for me and a friend. They were very easy, and I wanted to share with you – consider them an Easter fascinator (almost!!!!). Here are your easy-peasy bunny ears instructions (I managed all of this by myself, with Jessica cheering me on!). Remember, if you are little, make sure to ask a bigger person to help you with the scissors part. Enjoy!
Today’s post is all about special occasion wear. With Easter and Passover coming up this weekend, the little ones will have to look their best. Easter was always one of my favorite holidays to dress up for as a little girl. I can still remember the floral chiffon button up culotte romper (it was the early 90′s after all) that I wore for Easter when I was 9 years old. My mother and I searched for days to find a matching sun hat for the outfit, which was challenging even back then. I wore matching cream ballet flats to complete the ensemble. I can still remember feeling so ‘grown up’ in my hat. My mother lent me a purse to match!
I wanted to share the Google Art Project with you! The project launched today, and allows visitors to view famous art works from around the globe in a virtual gallery, where you can zoom in up close, or take your time with each piece! You can time-travel and travel-travel to these works, right from your parents’ iPad!
I am known by one name, but I am not of supermodel status (yet!). I loooooove fashion, though, and thankfully my mother has vintage magazines. I adore looking at previous year’s fashion. Now, Cindy, Naomi, Linda, Christy and Claudia were, and still are today, known on a first-name-only basis! So, in honor of The Supes fabulousness, I am sending you all the Freedom ’90 video. I would travel to the shoot of this video today if possible! It would be awesome to meet all the ladies, and I could get a few tips on how to style this 90′s stuff that is so popular right now! I think I could pair my Alberto Fasciani bootswith some 90′s garb, à la Kate Moss! Until my time machine is ready, here are some fun facts:
Since today celebrates the day Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity was published, I would like to Time Travel Tuesday back to when he was writing it to explore his use of music in his thinking process. According to Psychology Today, “Einstein explicated* this bold idea at length to one scholar of creativity in 1959, telling Max Wertheimer that he never thought in logical symbols or mathematical equations, but in images, feelings, and even musical architectures.”
Last year we started carrying a swimwear collection by the name of Stella Cove. I found the collection while on a buying trip in NYC in 2011.
The patterns are beyond adorable and many suits have coordinating cover-ups or rash guards. The cover-ups are multi-use and can be worn alone or with leggings, why just wear them to the pool or the beach? It seems the brighter the pattern, the more people like it. There’s just something about a poppy shot of color to bring you out of Winter and into Spring.
With the 75 degree temperatures and warm winds off the lake, the collection is flying out of the store. Nothing inspires more than warm weather!
Hello, everyone! I first discovered Shari Lewis and Lambchop from my grandmother, who sent me a You Tube link to clips of their show. I must say I think both Ms. Lewis and Ms. Chop are super talented. My grandmother says they are “classic,” and I would have to agree. The show has a slower pace (it took me a few watches before I caught on to the relaxed timing), no modern references, and it is in a longer format, something I don’t see nowadays. There’s also a joke break in the middle that it really funny! For today’s Time Travel Tuesday, I wanted to share my favorite clip with you. It is from the “Shari Lewis show,” and it talks about something we all experience- loneliness, and how to combat it when your people go out. I hope you enjoy our clip, which celebrates March coming in like a lion, and going out like Lambchop!
Here are some more shots from the photo shoot for the Spring/Summer look book. You can find the new shots on shopodile Wednesday. In the meantime, here are the ladies of Lanvin prepping for their close-ups.
I had the great pleasure of being able to spend two days last week at Nozicka Studios with Steve Nozicka, his awesome wife Geri and their great assistant Bruce. Steve shoots all the clothing and look book shots for shopodile.com. I’m always amazed at how he is able to make the clothing really come alive.
The creative process is so much fun for me. Here’s a sneak peek at the props we used for the new look book shots. More to come tomorrow!
I have missed you so, and am really excited to be back on the blog today!!! (*Especially* since I get to introduce something so important to us: time travel!)
We always talk about how we would like to go back in time to shop/participate in a cultural happening/get to meet someone prominent (my new word of the week)/witness art being revealed….. We know we cannot (as of yet!) time travel, but it is fun to think about what type of life and associated you would create if you could associate with any era of history, or all, all at once!
Who wouldn’t want a love letter on Lanvin Stationary? With just enough room to write down exactly what needs to be said and colorful pencils to write it with, I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t swoon at a hand written note on this paper.
Each pencil has a sweet saying on it such as: ‘me too’, ‘nice dress’, ‘i want it all’, ‘i want that dress’ and ‘i love lanvin’. How adorable!
This past Sunday I went over to The Peninsula to change out my vitrine. No Superbowl Sunday for me! I’m just the kind of girl that would rather spend it with Lanvin, not that I don’t appreciate Madonna. Jessica, my visuals person, always has the most creative ideas. Candy and Lanvin for Valentine’s day seems like the perfect pairing.
I cannot express how much I love Valentine’s Day! It is the perfect time to write your crush a charming note, or make your best friend a lovely, hand-crafted Valentine using trims and other finery that she is sure to love! I mean, who doesn’t love a Holiday about expressing love in a stylish way?
This year, I learned of an older tradition I am bringing to my school – Valentine’s Day boxes! They used to use them in the 40′s and 50′s and I think it is time we time-traveled that tradition to the present day! So handsome for the top of your desk! And, they also have the benefit of keeping the lovey-dovey in private.
Hi! My name is Odile, and I am the perpetually 8-year-old illustrated embodiment of Odile Luxury Children’s Boutique. That means, all the beautiful clothes in the store always fit me, and if I stay up late, I can be drawn so I still look wide-awake and fresh, without all that coffee the adults like so much. I do not (yet) have a taste for it.
What a productive trip to Florence and Paris I had! Such inspiration I can barely contain myself. Perhaps the most exciting news to come back with me is that Odile will be carrying Missoni for Fall/Winter 2012!
Tomorrow I say goodbye to Chicago and head to Florence and Paris for my Fall/Winter 2012 buy. I could not be more excited. Nothing inspires me more than seeing what my favorite brands like La Stupenderia and Le Nouveau Né have come up with. Plus there’s the meeting with old friends and eating the most delicious food in the world part of the trip. It’s hard work, but someone’s got to do it I suppose…….
Nothing says Christmas like tartan plaids and rich velvets. These Holiday dresseswill make sure that your little one is the belle of the ball. I’m partial to any of the navy velvets (see the image of me as a little one in Camille's Story.) Classic silhouettes and hand-smocked detailing make these dresses timeless pieces that can be handed down through the years.
I’m so excited to be participating in Sarca’s Fab Five Friday today. Never at a loss for opinions about fashion (whether it be for designer childrenswear or women's clothing), I was more than happy to choose my favorites. See what my favorite looks for Fall/Winter 2011 are here: http://www.sarcachicago.blogspot.com/
I think it’s time that I introduce my constant companion, and Odile’s official store mascot, my dog Otto. I adopted Otto over two years ago just before I opened the store. Otto is beyond spoiled so when the store was being built I made sure to set aside two separate nooks for him to curl up and sleep in; one under the cash wrap (his pied a terre in the city) and one under my desk in the back office (his country estate.) He has since taken up permanent residence at his country home so he is never on the sales floor anymore, although will make an appearance for the select few…..
Today marks a very special day for me. I am beyond grateful and humbled for the success I have experienced thus far with my store since opening almost two years ago, I am so excited to be able to share the store with the world through our new e-commerce site. Stay tuned for more updates on Odile, European childrenswear and all things inspiring in the world of luxury children’s wear.
